STRUTEX 2026 – Materials & Design for Longevity

STRUTEX 2026 is an international research conference focused on how textile materials, structures and desig-driven products perform over time in real use. Rather than addressing sustainability primarily through new materials or emerging technologies, STRUTEX examines longevity as an outcome of material behaviour, structural performance, design decisions, user interaction and maintenance.

The conference brings together textile science, engineering and design research, including research through design, within shared thematic sections, without separating disciplines. Contributions are presented side by side to enable critical discussion on performance, form, use and failure of textile products, and on the conditions under which they are maintained, repaired or discarded.

STRUTEX 2026 provides a focused platform for researchers and designers concerned with the long-term performance, usability and real-world use of textile materials and products. All contributions undergo peer review.

STRUTEX 2026 will take place on 4–6 November 2026 in Liberec, Czech Republic, hosted by the Faculty of Textile Engineering


WHO SHOULD ATTEND

STRUTEX 2026 is intended for researchers and designers whose work addresses textile materials, structures and design-led products in relation to time, use and performance. The conference is particularly relevant for:

  • textile scientists and engineers working on material behaviour, testing, ageing and degradation
  • design researchers and practice-based researchers and research through design investigating form, fit, use, care and product longevity
  • researchers engaged in interdisciplinary approaches connecting material science, engineering and design

    • STRUTEX 2026 is not focused on trend-driven fashion, short-term innovation showcases or purely conceptual design that does not engage with material performance and real use.
