CONFERENCE FORMAT

STRUTEX 2026 follows a traditional academic conference format, combining parallel paper sessions and poster presentations with curated thematic blocks and shared discussions. The programme is structured to support focused exchange across disciplines while maintaining sufficient time for critical debate. Research contributions from textile science, engineering and design research, including research through design, are presented side by side within each thematic section. This format enables comparison of methods, perspectives and findings, and supports discussion on how material behaviour, structural performance and design decisions interact in real use over time.

In addition to standard sessions, selected thematic blocks are curated to address specific questions related to performance limits, failure and learning from use. These sessions are designed to foster critical reflection rather than the presentation of finalized solutions.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMME

Guided Visits to Textile Laboratories

As part of the additional programme, STRUTEX 2026 offers guided visits to selected textile laboratories at the Faculty of Textile Engineering, Technical University of Liberec. The visits provide insight into experimental methods and testing facilities related to material behaviour, ageing, wear and real-use simulation.

Laboratory demonstrations focus on approaches used to investigate performance, degradation and limits of textile materials and structures, and their implications for design and development decisions. The visits are intended to complement conference discussions by connecting research presentations with physical testing environments, design-led experimentation, and experimental practice.

Participation in laboratory visits is optional and subject to capacity.

PROGRAMME

The STRUTEX 2026 programme is structured around the four thematic pillars, combining parallel paper sessions with poster presentations and shared discussion formats. Sessions are designed to allow sufficient time for presentation, comparison of approaches and critical exchange.

Rather than grouping contributions strictly by discipline, papers from textile science, engineering and design research are presented within common thematic contexts. This structure supports dialogue on material behaviour, structural performance, design decisions and use over time, and highlights points of convergence as well as productive tension between perspectives.

Poster sessions form an integral part of the programme and are positioned to encourage in-depth discussion of ongoing research, experimental work and practice-based or methodological approaches. Curated sessions addressing performance limits, failure and learning from use complement the main programme.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Keynote contributions at STRUTEX 2026 are conceived as critical perspectives rather than comprehensive overviews of established fields. Invited speakers are selected for their ability to reflect on long-term material performance, design decision-making, and use-related phenomena from analytical, experimental or design research positions.

Keynotes are positioned within the programme to stimulate discussion across thematic pillars and to introduce questions related to performance limits, failure and learning from real use. Rather than presenting finalized solutions, keynote lectures are intended to open shared problem spaces and to frame critical debate throughout the conference.
