Keynote Lecture:
Application of polymer hollow-fibers to the heat exchanger

Short biography:
In 1981, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Brno. After a one-year job at the Research Institute of Energetic Devices, he started his postgraduate studies at the Department of Thermodynamics and Nuclear Energy of the Brno University of Technology. Since 1983, he is employed at Brno University of Technology. In 1994 he established with Professor Jaroslav Horsky Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Laboratory at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Professional attention, during the last five years, on new methods of solution of thermal inverse task, research in cooling of extreme hot surfaces and development of heat exchangers with hollow polymeric fibers. Dr. Ing. Vincent PLACET

Research Interest:
Hygro-thermo-mechanical behaviour of wooden materials and natural fibres. Long-term durability, damage and failure under monotonic and cyclic loading, fatigue tolerance and health monitoring of composite materials and structures. Multi-scale characterization techniques.
Keynote Lecture:
Mechanics of biobased fibrous assemblies: from single fiber to composite material

Short biography:
After receiving an engineering diploma in wood science and engineering from the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Technologies et Industries du Bois”, Epinal, France in 2003, and a Ph.D. degree in wood science from the University Henri Poincaré, Nancy, France in 2006, Vincent Placet became Research Engineer at the Department Applied Mechanics of FEMTO-ST Institute, Besançon, France in 2006. He obtained a habilitation degree from the University of Franche-Comté in 2013. Since 2014, he is the head of the Damage Tolerance and Durability of (Bio) Composites team (T2DC) within the department of Applied Mechanics of the FEMTO-ST Institute. His main research interests are thermo-hygro-mechanical behavior of wooden materials and plant fibres, long-term durability, fatigue tolerance and health monitoring of composite materials and structures. Vincent Placet has authored and co-authored 28 papers in international peer-review journals, 3 patents, 60 papers in international and national conferences proceedings. In 2015, Vincent Placet was also awarded “Daniel Valentin Price” by AMAC, the French association for composite materials. (Full list of publications can be found here).



Prof. Dr. Ing. Math. Yordan Kostadinov KYOSEV

Geometrical and mechanical modeling of (warp and weft) knitted and braided structures; application of FEM for the modelling of fiber and yarn based structures; braiding machines and technology; fuzzy logic.

Geometrical and mechanical modelling of textile structures at fiber and yarn level

Short biography:
His early carrier started in Sofia, Bulgaria at the Department of Textiles. First he studied here from 1997 to 1999 as PhD student, external assistant professor for Design of textile and sewing machines. The same topic he taught as an Assistant Professor in the period of 1999 – 2003. Next three years he acted as the Head Assistant Professor with the main teaching topics: knitting technology, design of textile and sewing machines, numerical methods in the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, technical mechanics (statistics, kinetics, dynamics, strength of materials) in the German Faculty for Engineering Education. Since 2006 he is Professor in Hochschule Niederrhein-University of Applied Sciences, Mönchengladbach, Germany. In terms of teaching he is focused on: Textile Materials, Textile Technology (narrow woven and braided fabrics), Textile testing and quality management, Finite element modelling for textiles, Numerical simulation. Since 2000 he is Consultant on freelancer basis, part time worker as Software Developer. In 2011 he founded the company TexMind UG, he is also manager and developer of this independent development center for adaptation of the newest scientific achievements in the area of textiles for practical application. He is member and reviewer of many important textile journals and also of scientific associations as: The International Fiber Society, The Textile Institute, German Association for Computational Mechanics (GACM), Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik eV (GAMM), Eurographics. Yordan Kyosev is author of over hundred papers in journals and at conferences, also many of books and chapters in books. (Full list of publications can be found here).
